Children created a Chinese Dragon on the Red Day
October 2011: Red is a dominant colour in the Chinese culture; therefore the KG classes at Beaconhouse-Newlands chose China Town as a theme for their red day.

Children made red Chinese lanterns and a huge red dragon with the help of their teachers to create a festive environment in the school.

They also performed the famous Chinese dragon dance for the students of the early years.

The early years at Beaconhouse-Newlands also celebrated the red day and children and teachers came dressed in red clothes for the occasion.

They made red jelly, cookies with red strawberry jam and a huge mural on which every student got a chance to paint, paste and colour.

Children also brought items related to the colour red which they pasted on the group collage board.

As a special treat, the teachers enacted a play on the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ for children. There was an aura of excitement as the students were thrilled to see their teachers performing on stage.

Such colour-based activity help enhance the concept of colours and their importance in our lives among children.
