Recent Activities at Defence Campus, Lahore

Posted by Zaid Khan on 07:39

November 2011: Beaconhouse Defence Campus (BDC) bagged the Intra-regional Football Cup. After an easy win over Gujranwala in the semis, the final was a tough contest with A Level Gulberg Campus but the BDC boys won 1-0.

BDC’s girls’ basketball team made their way to the final of the Intra-regional Basketball Cup. The final against the Liberty Campus was a tense match and our girls played well to secure second place in the entire region.

Our aspiring fashion designers and models set the ramp ablaze at the Lahore Grammar School Paragon Fashion Show and bagged the third prize. It was no small feat considering the fact that almost every school in Lahore participated in the competition.

The bake sale held by middle section was filled with fun, frolic and of course food. Mr. Ali Raza, Regional Director Centre, graced the occasion as chief guest. The young chefs served delightful snacks and meals for everyone. It was a noble cause as all the proceeds were for the flood victims and charity organisations.

BDC also organised a Desi Day, where the dress code for students was ethnic. Students enjoyed food, laughter and their favourite songs. It was indeed a memorable day.

In the academic arena, BDC held its High Achiever’s Ceremony for the O and A Level. It was a proud occasion for the parents, students and the school to see so many straight A students. Dr. Javed Akram, a renowned professor of medicine, was the chief guest for this special occasion.

The middle section and O Levels prize distribution ceremony also took place to honour the bright students. Dr. Anwar Khurshid, a professor at LUMS, was the chief guest for this event.

Aizat Qadir (VIII Green) and Taha Nadeem (VIII Red) of the middle school received a bronze medal in the 7th International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest 2011.

LUMS students visited BDC once a week for four months in October to participate in activities with Grade VIII students on ‘My World My Choice’, an initiative that helped inform students about better practices in order to preserve the ever deteriorating environment and conserve resources.

The Global Dignity Day was celebrated by Grade VII and Grade VIII on October 20, 2011. Students of Grade VII prepared an amazing role play which they wrote themselves. O Level students took part in an essay writing competition while Grade VIII participated in a poster making competition.
